Yes. Export applies content removal and writes a new PDF with old revisions and unused objects discarded. Other unselected occurrences can remain, so review every page.
No. These effects retain visual information. Permanent redaction uses a solid fill after removing content.
Metadata, attachments, bookmarks, annotations, links and forms are removed. Touched vector objects may disappear beyond the selection boundary. Digital signatures are invalidated.
Use manual rectangles for scans. Text search and automatic patterns only find extractable text and do not run OCR.
